HOW MEDIA ACCESS WORKSFide Island turns the empty space around your camera into a quiet, fluid command surface for media, calendar, files, clipboard, quick calculations and system feedback.
LOCAL-FIRST · OPTIONAL PERMISSIONS · NO ANALYTICS IN THE MAC APP
01 / INTERACTIVE PRODUCT DEMO
Hover over the island to open it. Switch tabs, play the mock track, clear the clipboard, use the calculator or drag a file into the shelf. The demo is browser-only and never reads your real Mac data.
02 / SMALL SURFACE, REAL UTILITY
See system Now Playing metadata, artwork, progress and transport controls from supported media sessions across your Mac.
HOW MEDIA ACCESS WORKSDrop files into a temporary shelf and keep a compact local clipboard history. Both are designed around short-lived, on-device data.
READ THE PRIVACY POLICYUpcoming events sit beside media instead of behind another window. Calendar access is requested only when you choose to enable it.
Do quick arithmetic without leaving what you are doing, then convert currencies with a cached exchange-rate fallback.
Optional brightness, volume and mute feedback can expand around the notch with a liquid level that squashes, stretches and settles.
Connect your own Gemini API key if you want an assistant. The key is kept in macOS Keychain; prompts are sent only when you submit them.
03 / WATCH IT IN ACTION
The interactive demo gives you the idea. This walkthrough shows the real app in context — how Fide Island opens around the notch, brings media, calendar, files, clipboard and quick tools into one compact surface, then gets out of the way when you are done.
WATCH ON YOUTUBE04 / PRIVACY BY DEFAULT
The Mac app is local-first and its current source includes no custom analytics or telemetry. Optional permissions stay off until a feature needs them.

06 / QUESTIONS
Not in the current Mac app design. Clipboard history and Shelf copies are stored locally. Shelf and clipboard history are designed to expire after 24 hours, and no custom Fide Island backend is currently used for those features.
The app primarily reads the macOS Now Playing session through a bundled compatibility component. If that path is unavailable, a narrower AppleScript fallback can ask macOS for Automation permission for selected media apps or browsers.
The feature is intended only to recognize brightness, volume and mute key presses for system-control feedback. It is optional and off by default in the current app configuration.
The app contacts Fide Island's access API to verify your subscription, plus exchange-rate and optional weather services. Google Gemini is contacted only when you explicitly use the assistant, and a YouTube thumbnail host may be used in a narrow media fallback.
Paddle securely processes the recurring monthly payment and applicable taxes. After purchase, enter the same email in the Mac app and confirm the one-time access code.
